Hide or unhide folders and files

 01:58:00     1 comment

In Windows 10, there is a convenient feature available for hiding files and folders on your hard drive. You may want to hide folders that contain sensitive information, or you may want to hide important system files. If you are planing to hide folders, it's really important to know how to make them unhide again.

  • Right click on the file or folder, and click on Properties.

  • Check the Hidden box, and click on OK. To show hidden folder or files just uncheck the Hidden box.

  • If there has a sub folders or files in the folder, then you need to select to only hide the folder or to hide the folder and all of it's sub folders and files and press OK.

  • In case you unable to uncheck the Hidden Box as shown below picture, it's happened because this option is disabled by system or effected by virus.

  • This will unhide all files and folders of the drive F. Remember F is name of the drive in which you want to run the operations.
  • Press Windows Logo Key + R and type "CMD". Then type this command("attrib -h -r -s /s /d F:\*.*) in the CMD as shown below picture.

Windows 10 hide important files and folders from view to keep users from deleting or otherwise modifying files they shouldn’t, but a simple checkbox can change that behavior.Unfortunately is hidden cause maybe of Viruses or something else.

  • In the search box on the taskbar, type Show hidden, and then select Show hidden files and folders from the search results.

  • Under view tab, and then you should select “Show hidden files and folders” in the list. If you are trying to get into the Windows directories, you might want to also remove the checkbox from “Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)” and then select OK.
